Azerbaijani embassy resumes operations in Damascus after 13-year hiatus

The Azerbaijani Embassy has officially resumed operations in Damascus, Syria, marking the end of a 13-year hiatus in diplomatic presence.
According to an official statement, the embassy’s chargé d'affaires has already been deployed to Damascus and has commenced diplomatic activities.
Azerbaijan has reiterated its commitment to supporting lasting peace and stability in Syria, emphasizing adherence to international law principles.
"This is a pivotal period in which friendly and partnership relations between Azerbaijan and Syria have reached a qualitatively new level," the statement added. The embassy will focus on strengthening bilateral ties across political, economic, cultural, and other sectors, while also engaging with the Syrian transitional government to foster cooperation.
