Deadly flash flood kills four, leaves four others missing in northern Vietnam
At least four people were killed, four others remain missing and seven were injured after flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall swept through northern Vietnam's Lai Chau Province.
Torrential rains caused floodwaters to surge rapidly through Muong Than village in the province's mountainous region, leaving widespread destruction in their wake.Local authorities said four people lost their lives, while seven injured residents were taken to hospital for treatment. Search and rescue teams continue efforts to locate the four people reported missing.
The flooding caused extensive damage to roads, homes and electricity infrastructure across the affected area. In Muong Than village, an important agricultural region, around 238 hectares of cultivated farmland were inundated.
Authorities have begun assessing the extent of the damage as recovery operations continue in the flood-hit communities.Vietnam's national meteorological agency has warned that heavy rainfall is expected to persist across northern parts of the country, urging residents, particularly those living in mountainous areas, to remain alert for further flash floods and landslides.
