Erdogan: Preserving the fragile Gaza ceasefire is vital for lasting peace

During his official visit to Kuwait, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan met with Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, stressing the importance of maintaining the Gaza ceasefire and reaffirming his call for a two-state solution as the only path to permanent peace in Palestine.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan underscored the “critical importance” of safeguarding the recently achieved ceasefire in Gaza during a meeting with Kuwait’s Emir, Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, held as part of his official visit to Kuwait on Monday.
According to the Turkish Communications Directorate, President Erdogan stated that “preserving the hard-won ceasefire in Gaza is of vital importance, and a two-state solution remains the only guarantee for a lasting and just peace.”
He further emphasized that the Islamic world must stand united and act collectively to protect Palestinian rights and prevent further violations by the occupation regime.
Erdogan also reiterated that Türkiye remains committed to upholding Syria’s political unity and territorial integrity and expressed the country’s readiness to cooperate closely with brotherly Arab nations in shaping a stable and prosperous future for the Syrian people.
On bilateral relations, the President highlighted the strategic importance of cooperation between Türkiye and Kuwait in investment, energy, trade, and defense sectors, noting that “our historical relations with Kuwait hold great potential for further development.”
He also expressed appreciation for Kuwait’s constructive role in promoting peace and stability in the Gulf region, stressing that the ongoing negotiations on a Free Trade Agreement between Türkiye and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) would further deepen economic ties and solidarity among friendly nations.
Erdogan’s remarks come amid renewed diplomatic efforts across the region to maintain the fragile ceasefire in Gaza, which has faced repeated violations by the Israeli occupation forces since its announcement earlier this month. (ILKHA)
