Four Israelis killed, dozens injured in shooting operation in occupied Jerusalem

A Palestinian resistance operation at Ramot Junction in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem) on Monday, September 7, resulted in the elimination of four Israeli soldiers and injuries to more than 20 others, according to local sources and eyewitness accounts.
The bold action, carried out by a Palestinian fighter, targeted an Israeli military checkpoint in the occupied city, highlighting the intensifying resistance against Israel’s ongoing occupation and apartheid policies in Palestine.
The operation occurred at approximately 7:30 AM local time when a lone Palestinian gunman opened fire on Israeli forces stationed at the Ramot Junction, a heavily militarized area known for its role in restricting Palestinian movement. Israeli media reported that the four soldiers killed were part of the occupation’s security apparatus, while the injured included both military personnel and settlers. Emergency services rushed to the scene, but the attacker reportedly escaped, prompting a massive manhunt and lockdowns across Al-Quds, further disrupting Palestinian residents’ lives.
Palestinian resistance groups hailed the operation as a legitimate response to Israel’s escalating aggression, including the ongoing genocide in Gaza, where over 64,000 Palestinians have been killed since October 2023, and the daily raids, arrests, and demolitions in the West Bank and Al-Quds. The attack comes amid heightened tensions following Israel’s recent killing of 21 Palestinian civilians in Gaza airstrikes on September 7, as well as the expansion of illegal settlements in the occupied territories. On the same day, Israeli forces conducted violent raids in Jenin, killing two young Palestinians and injuring dozens, further fueling outrage.
“This operation is a natural reaction to the occupation’s brutality,” said a spokesperson for a Palestinian resistance faction, speaking anonymously due to security concerns. “Our people will not remain silent while Israel continues its genocide in Gaza and ethnic cleansing in Al-Quds and the West Bank.” The spokesperson emphasized that such actions target Israel’s military infrastructure, which enforces apartheid and suppresses Palestinian rights.
Israeli authorities condemned the operation, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowing a “harsh response” and labeling it a “terrorist attack.” However, Palestinian activists and analysts argue that Israel’s narrative ignores the root cause: decades of occupation, land theft, and systematic violence against Palestinians. The Ramot Junction, located near illegal settlements like Ramat Shlomo, is a flashpoint for confrontations, as settlers and soldiers frequently harass and restrict Palestinian access to their own city.
The incident coincides with growing international solidarity, as the Global Sumud Flotilla prepares to sail from Tunisia on September 11 to break Israel’s 18-year blockade of Gaza. The flotilla, carrying aid and activists from 44 countries, has faced threats from Israeli officials, including National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir, who labeled participants “terrorists.” Palestinian leaders in Al-Quds expressed solidarity with the flotilla, calling for global action to end Israel’s impunity and support the Palestinian struggle for liberation.
As Israel tightens its grip on Al-Quds, demolishing homes and expanding settlements—over 700,000 settlers now reside in illegal outposts across the West Bank and East Jerusalem—Palestinian resistance continues to assert the right to self-defense against occupation. Activists urge the international community to address Israel’s war crimes and support the Palestinian people’s fight for freedom, justice, and self-determination. (ILKHA)
