Gaza death toll surges to 54,927 amid relentless Israeli attacks

At least 41 Palestinians were killed and 388 others wounded in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, as Israel's relentless military onslaught on the besieged enclave shows no sign of abating.
Local health authorities described the ongoing assault as part of a systematic campaign of genocide that has devastated civilian life in Gaza.
According to the Gaza Ministry of Health, the total number of Palestinians killed since Israel began its large-scale aggression in October 2023 has now reached 54,927, with over 126,615 injured. The vast majority of the victims are women and children, underscoring the disproportionate toll on the most vulnerable segments of the population.
Since Israel resumed its offensive on March 18—following a brief two-month truce—4,649 more Palestinians have been killed and 14,574 injured, highlighting the intensifying pace of violence in recent weeks.
Emergency services continue to report grave challenges in reaching victims. Dozens remain trapped under rubble or stranded in the open, as Israeli forces persist in targeting ambulances, medical staff, and civil defense teams—violations that human rights organizations have described as war crimes.
“Our teams are unable to access many areas due to continued shelling and sniper fire,” a spokesperson for the Gaza Civil Defense said. “Bodies are lying in the streets while we’re being shot at for trying to retrieve them.”
Despite multiple United Nations Security Council resolutions demanding an immediate ceasefire, and legally binding orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) instructing Israel to prevent genocide and allow humanitarian relief, Israel's military operations continue unabated.
The international community's failure to enforce these mandates has drawn growing condemnation, with legal scholars and human rights groups warning of complicity through silence.
Meanwhile, Gaza’s already-collapsed healthcare system is buckling under the strain. Hospitals and clinics, many already bombed or under siege, are struggling to treat the flood of casualties as medicine, fuel, and medical supplies remain scarce due to Israel’s ongoing blockade and targeting of humanitarian convoys.
As the death toll continues to mount and the world watches in outrage and paralysis, Palestinian families are left to bury their loved ones and tend to the wounded under fire, with no safe haven and no end in sight. (ILKHA)
