Gaza rescue teams struggle as thousands remain buried under Israeli bombardment

Gaza’s Civil Defense agency has sharply criticized the international community for showing a “double standard” in responding to the victims of the Israeli assault on the Gaza Strip.
The agency warned that an estimated 10,000 bodies of Palestinian martyrs remain trapped under the rubble of destroyed buildings, while international efforts to recover them remain minimal.
In an interview with Al-Araby TV, Civil Defense officials confirmed that their teams have so far managed to recover more than 260 bodies, working tirelessly around the clock despite severely limited resources amid an unprecedented humanitarian crisis.
“There is a double standard from the international community in the degree of eagerness to recover our prisoners and the occupation’s prisoners,” the agency stated.
“There are 10,000 martyrs under the rubble, and we do not see eagerness from the international community and organizations to retrieve them.”
The Civil Defense agency also revealed that it receives dozens of appeals daily from families desperately requesting the recovery of their loved ones’ bodies from beneath the debris, highlighting the ongoing trauma and suffering faced by Gazans.
The statement underscores the urgent need for the international community to address the humanitarian disaster in Gaza and ensure that Palestinian victims are treated with the same urgency and humanity as any other conflict casualties. (ILKHA)
