Gaza’s children starve as famine death toll rises to 393

Hospitals across the Gaza Strip have reported six more deaths in the past 24 hours due to severe famine and malnutrition, including two children, highlighting the worsening humanitarian crisis under Israel’s ongoing blockade.
Medical sources confirmed that these fatalities bring the total number of hunger-related deaths in Gaza to 393, including 140 children, since the start of the blockade. Since the latest Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) report, 115 deaths have been recorded, 25 of whom were children.
The situation is increasingly dire, with hospitals receiving continuous cases of malnutrition and famine-related illnesses. Currently, an estimated 900,000 children in Gaza suffer from hunger, with 70,000 already in a critical state of malnutrition, according to local health authorities.
The United Nations Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) had previously warned that malnutrition among children under five doubled between March and June 2025, attributing the rise to the severe restrictions imposed by the Israeli siege on the Gaza Strip.
Humanitarian organizations continue to sound the alarm over the life-threatening situation, emphasizing that urgent international intervention is needed to prevent further deaths and alleviate the suffering of Gaza’s population.
Health officials and civil society groups have described the ongoing blockade and deprivation as a deliberate policy of collective punishment, condemning the international community’s failure to take decisive action to end the famine. (ILKHA)
