Gaza's humanitarian crisis deepens as death toll reaches 53,573

At least 87 Palestinians were killed and 290 others wounded in the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours amid the ongoing Israeli military offensive, according to medical sources in the region.
The latest casualties bring the total number of Palestinians killed since the start of the Israeli campaign in October 2023 to 53,573, with 121,688 more injured. Health officials report that women and children constitute the majority of the victims.
Since Israel resumed its military operations on March 18, following a two-month ceasefire, 3,427 Palestinians have reportedly been killed and 9,647 injured, medical authorities said.
Emergency response efforts remain severely hampered. Health officials and rescue workers say they are unable to reach many victims trapped beneath the rubble or lying in open areas, as ongoing airstrikes and ground operations continue to pose grave risks to ambulance and civil defense crews.
The humanitarian situation in Gaza continues to deteriorate rapidly, with repeated calls from international organizations for a ceasefire and safe access for medical and rescue teams. The conflict has devastated infrastructure across the enclave, leaving much of the population without access to food, clean water, or medical care. (ILKHA)
