Genocide in Gaza: Yemen’s al-Houthi warns of Israel’s regional ambitions

The leader of Yemen’s Ansar Allah movement, Sayyed Abdul-Malik al-Houthi, has denounced the ongoing Israeli attacks on Gaza, describing them as the “crime of the century and the scandal of the era,” and criticized global inaction that enables the occupation’s daily atrocities.
Speaking on Thursday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Prophet Mohammad (PBUH), Sayyed al-Houthi highlighted that the anniversary coincides with nearly two years of Israel’s US-backed assault on Gaza, during which Palestinian civilians have endured unprecedented suffering. Infants have been denied basic necessities such as baby formula, while starvation continues to be used as a deliberate weapon of war, he said.
“The Israeli occupation continues its daily violations against al-Aqsa Mosque and the West Bank,” Sayyed al-Houthi stressed, condemning those who remain passive as “mere spectators.” He warned that hesitation or complicity with the enemy will not protect anyone from the consequences of these crimes.
The Ansar Allah leader criticized the Islamic world for its failure to take effective action, arguing that oppression against the Palestinian people exposes the moral, human, and religious decay in the region. “Every alternative and strategy the nation has relied upon has now failed,” he noted.
He further warned that Israel’s aggression does not stop at Gaza, citing statements from Israeli officials that aim to reshape the Middle East and establish a “Greater Israel.”
Sayyed al-Houthi reaffirmed Yemen’s unwavering stance in supporting the Palestinian people and called on those with a living conscience to act against Israel’s crimes, which he described as genocide and deliberate starvation. “The nation’s persistence in its current state, contrary to its own principles, will lead to its ruin,” he stated.
The remarks come amid a continued surge in casualties from the Israeli war on Gaza. Since October 7, 2023, at least 64,231 Palestinians have been killed, with 161,583 injured. Following the resumption of hostilities on March 18, 2025, the death toll has reached 11,699, with 49,542 injured, according to medical sources.
Sayyed al-Houthi’s speech underscores the urgency of international and regional action to end the ongoing genocide and support the Palestinian people in their struggle for survival and justice. (ILKHA)
