Ghana's health authorities are facing a surge in dengue fever cases, with confirmed infections rising to 36 across the Eastern and Central Regions.
The Ghana Health Service (GHS) announced the confirmation in a statement, revealing that samples sent to the Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) yielded positive results.
The outbreak initially emerged in three districts and municipalities within the Eastern Region but has since spread to the Central Region, raising concerns about further transmission.
The GHS has deployed a national team of entomologists and epidemiologists to collaborate with regional health officials in conducting a comprehensive investigation into the outbreak.
Dengue fever is a mosquito-borne viral illness characterized by symptoms like fever, nausea, body aches, and headaches. The rise in cases underscores the need for public health measures to control mosquito populations and raise awareness about preventive steps. (ILKHA)
