Hamas’ armed wing, the Al-Qassam Brigades, has confirmed the release of three Israeli captives as part of the ongoing Al-Aqsa Flood prisoner exchange deal.
In a statement issued Wednesday, Abu Obeida, the spokesperson for the Al-Qassam Brigades, announced that Arbil Yehud, Agam Berger, and Gadi Moshe Moses would be freed on Thursday, January 30, 2025.
The Israeli Prime Minister’s Office later confirmed receipt of the list of captives scheduled for release from Gaza. According to the statement, the three Israeli captives will be released alongside five Thai citizens.
Israeli media, citing a political source, reported that the list provided by Hamas was deemed acceptable by Israeli authorities. This exchange is part of broader negotiations mediated by regional and international actors.
In return, Israel is expected to release 110 Palestinian prisoners on Thursday. According to Palestinian media reports, the released individuals will include 32 prisoners serving life sentences, 48 prisoners serving long-term sentences, and 30 minors.
The prisoner exchange comes amid ongoing diplomatic efforts to de-escalate tensions and push for a long-term ceasefire in Gaza. Officials from Qatar, Egypt, and the United States have been actively involved in brokering these negotiations.
The latest agreement follows weeks of pressure from international humanitarian organizations and foreign governments urging both parties to secure the release of hostages and prisoners. Families of captives have continued to rally in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem, demanding urgent action to bring their loved ones home.
With the conflict in Gaza ongoing, the prisoner exchange process remains a key focal point in the broader efforts to achieve a sustainable ceasefire. Further developments are expected as negotiations continue. (ILKHA)
