Hamas delegation arrives in Cairo to push for end to Israel’s genocidal war on Gaza

A high-level delegation from the Hamas Movement, led by chief negotiator Khalil al-Hayya, arrived in Cairo on Tuesday evening to engage in urgent talks with Egyptian officials aimed at halting Israel’s devastating war on the Gaza Strip and addressing the escalating crises in the West Bank and Jerusalem.
In a statement Tuesday night, senior Hamas official Taher al-Nunu said the delegation’s meetings will center on concrete steps to stop the Israeli war machine, secure the flow of desperately needed humanitarian aid, and put an end to the systematic suffering inflicted on Gaza’s besieged population.
Nunu praised Egypt’s efforts on Palestinian issues and reaffirmed that Hamas maintains “strong and historic” ties with Cairo, while stressing the need for unified Arab action to confront the occupation’s crimes.
The visit comes as Israel’s bombardment and siege of Gaza — now in its 22nd month — has killed tens of thousands, displaced hundreds of thousands more, and pushed the enclave to the brink of famine. For Hamas, the Cairo talks represent another effort to rally regional support to break the blockade and stop the genocide being carried out against the Palestinian people. (ILKHA)
