Egyptian-Qatari mediation efforts have successfully resolved obstacles hindering the implementation of the ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement, Palestinian sources confirmed.
Speaking to Al Mayadeen, Hamas spokesperson Abdullatif al Qanou' stated: "The indicators are positive regarding the Israeli occupation's commitment to the ceasefire." He emphasized that Hamas is ready to resume the prisoner exchange next Saturday if the Israeli occupation adheres to the agreement.
Al Qanou' highlighted that a Hamas envoy met with Egyptian officials to address the obstacles imposed by the occupation to undermine the ceasefire agreement. He reiterated that Hamas remains fully committed to the ceasefire terms and is determined to hold the Israeli side accountable.
In a recent statement, Hamas affirmed that discussions were conducted positively, focusing on the importance of implementing all ceasefire terms, particularly those related to providing shelter, caravans, heavy machinery, and medical supplies.
Hamas had announced the postponement of the release of three Israeli captives set for February 15 due to Israeli violations of the ceasefire agreement. According to Abu Obeida, spokesperson of al-Qassam Brigades, Israel's violations included preventing aid entry, restricting Palestinian movement in the north of the Strip, and targeting civilians.
Earlier reports from Israeli media suggested that Prime Minister Netanyahu was attempting to sabotage the ceasefire deal to derail the second phase of the agreement. Allegedly, the Israeli delegation to Qatar lacks real authority, as Netanyahu prioritizes appeasing far-right factions over securing the release of all Israeli captives. Right-wing voters view Hamas as undefeated, with far-right ministers like Bezalel Smotrich pushing Netanyahu to undermine the deal. (ILKHA)
