UNICEF has expressed deep concern over the deteriorating conditions of Palestinian children in the West Bank due to ongoing aggression by Israeli occupation forces.
Edouard Beigbeder, UNICEF's Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, condemned all forms of violence against children and called for an immediate cessation of "armed actions" in the West Bank.
According to reports, 13 Palestinian children were killed in the West Bank during the first two months of 2025, including seven children since January 19. Since October 7, 2023, a total of 195 children have been killed in the West Bank, marking a 200 percent increase compared to the previous period1.
Beigbeder highlighted that the aggression, particularly in Jenin, has led to widespread destruction of infrastructure, causing power and water outages. Thousands of families have been displaced from refugee camps, and education has been disrupted in about 100 schools, exacerbating the psychological and social burdens on children1.
UNICEF stressed the need to ensure safe access to humanitarian aid and protect civilians, warning that the worsening crisis requires adherence to international humanitarian law and a permanent political solution. (ILKHA)
