Hamas leader Al-Hayya holds key phone call with Iranian FM Araghchi on Gaza developments
Khalil Al-Hayya, Hamas's leader in Gaza, held a telephone conversation on Thursday with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi to discuss the latest developments in Palestine and the broader regional situation, according to a statement issued by Hamas.
During the call, Al-Hayya briefed the Iranian foreign minister on the escalating conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories, particularly in the Gaza Strip, where Israeli military operations continue amid what Hamas described as Israel's obstruction of ceasefire efforts and humanitarian relief initiatives.
The Hamas leader reaffirmed the determination of Palestinian resistance factions to continue their struggle until key objectives are achieved, including an end to Israeli military attacks and the termination of the occupation. He stressed that the Palestinian people remain steadfast despite the immense challenges posed by the ongoing conflict.
Al-Hayya also expressed appreciation for Iran's diplomatic stance regarding regional crises, highlighting Tehran's calls for a simultaneous halt to conflicts across the Middle East. He thanked the Iranian leadership for its continued political and moral support for the Palestinian cause.
During the conversation, Foreign Minister Araghchi extended his condolences to Al-Hayya over the loss of his son and several Palestinian resistance leaders who were killed during Israeli military operations in Gaza. He praised the resilience and perseverance demonstrated by the Palestinian people in the face of ongoing attacks and humanitarian hardships.
The Iranian foreign minister also reviewed Tehran's recent diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions and ending conflicts across the region. He reiterated Iran's longstanding support for what he described as the legitimate resistance movements in Palestine and Lebanon, emphasizing Tehran's commitment to backing regional forces opposing Israeli policies.
The discussion comes amid continued instability across the Middle East, with Gaza remaining at the center of regional diplomatic and political efforts as international actors seek pathways toward a ceasefire and a broader de-escalation of conflicts.(ILKHA)
