Hamas: Netanyahu responsible for escalating war on Gaza

The Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) announced on Thursday that negotiations with mediators are ongoing to halt the Israeli military offensive in the Gaza Strip.
The group emphasized that pressure is being applied to force Israel to adhere to the January 19, 2025 ceasefire agreement and abandon its military plans.
In a statement, Hamas spokesperson Abdul Latif al-Qanou reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the ceasefire and its cooperation with mediators to prevent further escalation. "The siege, starvation, and war of extermination in Gaza require urgent action from the Arab League and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation to save our people from genocide, prevent starvation, and lift the siege," the statement said.
Despite the ceasefire agreement, Israeli forces have renewed their military operations, launching airstrikes on multiple areas across Gaza. According to Gaza's Civil Defense, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in 460 casualties, including women and children, with hundreds more injured. Reports indicate that 70 people were killed today alone as the bombardment continues.
Local sources reported that Israeli forces have retaken control of the Netzarim Axis, effectively separating northern Gaza from its central and southern regions.
On Wednesday, Hamas placed full responsibility on the Israeli government and its leadership for the escalating ground invasion in central Gaza. The movement accused Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's administration of using forced displacement as a political tool, stating that such actions reflect a deep crisis within the Israeli government.
"The Palestinian people will thwart all attempts at forced or voluntary displacement," Hamas declared, adding: "There is no migration except to al-Quds (Jerusalem)."
The group reiterated its commitment to the ceasefire agreement and called on mediators to hold Israel accountable for its violations. Hamas urged international actors to pressure Israel into halting its military operations and adhering to the previously agreed terms.
As the bombardment continues, humanitarian conditions in Gaza worsen, with entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble, food supplies dwindling, and thousands displaced. Palestinian voices continue to call on the international community to act urgently to stop Israel’s genocidal campaign and ensure justice for the Palestinian people. (ILKHA)
