Humanity in crisis: Six Palestinians succumb to famine in besieged Gaza

Medical sources in the Gaza Strip reported the tragic deaths of six Palestinians, including a young child, in the past 24 hours due to starvation and acute malnutrition, bringing the total number of fatalities caused by the ongoing famine to 367, including 131 children.
The escalating humanitarian crisis in Gaza, driven by Israel’s blockade and severe restrictions on food and medical supplies, has pushed the territory to the brink of collapse.
Since the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) declared a famine in Gaza on August 22, 2025, health authorities have recorded 89 deaths, including 16 children, directly linked to starvation. The crisis has been exacerbated by Israel’s closure of all crossings into Gaza since March 2, 2025, effectively sealing off the territory and blocking the entry of essential food and medical aid. This has accelerated the spread of famine, leaving millions of Palestinians in a desperate struggle for survival.
The famine is intertwined with Israel’s ongoing military campaign, described by many as a genocidal war, which began on October 7, 2023. The blockade and relentless attacks have decimated Gaza’s infrastructure, destroyed agricultural resources, and crippled the healthcare system, leaving families unable to access even basic necessities.
Human rights advocates and Palestinian officials have condemned the blockade as a deliberate act of collective punishment, calling for urgent international intervention to lift the restrictions and allow humanitarian aid to flow freely into Gaza. The international community’s failure to act decisively has only deepened the suffering of Gaza’s 2.3 million residents, who continue to endure unimaginable hardship under occupation and siege.
As the death toll from starvation climbs, the world is urged to take immediate action to address this man-made catastrophe and hold those responsible for Gaza’s suffering accountable. (ILKHA)
