Iran has reported 156 new deaths from coronavirus over the past 24 hours, bringing the number of deaths from the virus to 18,132, the Health Ministry Spokeswoman Sima Lari said in her daily press conference on Friday.
After 2,450 more people tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, the number of infections has risen to 322,567 in the country.
There are at least 4,136 people in intensive care units, Lari said, adding that, of those tested positive for the virus, 279,724 patients have recovered and been discharged from hospital.
So far, more than 2,637,575 tests have been taken across the country to detect infected cases, said the Health Ministry spokeswoman.
According to Worldometer, which is a reference website that provides counters and real-time statistics for diverse topics, the global death toll from coronavirus has surpassed 718,328 with 19,293,503 cases and more than 12,385,834 recoveries. (ILKHA)
