Iran unveils massive underground missile base housing advanced arsenal
Iran’s Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) revealed a sprawling underground missile base on Tuesday, dubbed a “missile city” by state media.
The massive complex, broadcast live on Iranian television, houses thousands of precision-guided ballistic missiles, underscoring Tehran’s growing defiance in the face of international pressure.
Located at a secret site, the facility boasts an intricate network of tunnels and fortified chambers storing some of Iran’s most advanced weaponry, including the Kheibarshekan, Sejjil, Emad, and Haj Qassem missiles. These long-range systems, capable of striking targets with pinpoint accuracy across the Middle East, mark a significant leap in Iran’s missile technology.
The unveiling was presided over by top military brass, including Major General Mohammad Hossein Bagheri, Chief of Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces, and Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh, head of the IRGC Aerospace Force. General Bagheri hailed the base as a testament to Iran’s “unstoppable progress” in bolstering its defensive capabilities. “The Islamic Republic will not waver in strengthening our missile deterrence,” he declared.
General Hajizadeh emphasized the base’s strategic edge, noting its role in ensuring rapid and secure retaliation against any threats. “This facility guarantees our readiness, no matter the circumstances,” he said, framing it as a critical asset in an increasingly volatile region.
The announcement arrives against a backdrop of escalating tensions in the Middle East, with Western nations repeatedly condemning Iran’s missile program as a destabilizing force. Tehran, however, remains steadfast, asserting that its arsenal is purely defensive—a stance that has done little to ease global concerns over its military ambitions. As the “missile city” takes center stage, Iran’s message is clear: its military reach is growing, and it intends to keep pushing the boundaries of its deterrence strategy. (ILKHA)
