Islamic aid groups defy Gaza blockade with canned meat delivery for Eid al-Adha

Four international Islamic aid organizations have successfully delivered canned sacrificial meat to Gaza, overcoming extreme logistical challenges and Israel’s ongoing blockade.
The aid operation, carried out during Eid al-Adha 2025, comes as the besieged enclave endures one of the worst humanitarian crises in recent history.
The initiative was led by the Hope Caravan Foundation, Orphans Foundation, European Orphan Hand Association, and IHO EBRAR. The organizations coordinated the slaughtering and canning of animals in India, ensuring adherence to Islamic guidelines and hygiene standards. The meat was then transported via Egypt and distributed inside Gaza, where food insecurity remains at catastrophic levels due to the prolonged siege and military onslaught.
“Each can of meat represents a smile at the holiday table,” the aid organizations said in a joint statement. “Despite the immense challenges, we remain committed to reaching our brothers and sisters in Gaza with the support of our generous donors.”
The effort required extensive planning and coordination, with aid convoys navigating around closed border crossings, military checkpoints, and blockade-related restrictions. Organizers described each successful delivery as both a lifeline for displaced families and an act of moral resistance.
“This operation has proven that with unity, faith, and determination, even the seemingly impossible becomes achievable,” a representative from the Orphans Foundation said.
The organizations emphasized that the operation was not just about food distribution, but about affirming the continued solidarity of the global Muslim and humanitarian community with the people of Gaza.
The aid comes amid staggering devastation. Since October 7, 2023, Israeli military operations in Gaza have claimed the lives of over 54,000 Palestinians and injured more than 126,000, according to local health authorities. The vast majority of the victims are women and children.
The enclave remains under total siege, with limited access to clean water, electricity, shelter, and food. International organizations have warned of famine-like conditions and systemic targeting of civilian infrastructure.
Despite mounting global calls for a ceasefire and humanitarian access, the blockade remains largely in place. Under these dire conditions, even small aid deliveries require extraordinary coordination and courage.
The four aid organizations reaffirmed their year-round commitment to sustaining humanitarian efforts in Gaza. They vowed to continue seeking alternative channels for delivering aid and to maintain their connection to the Palestinian people in spite of political and military obstacles.
“We will not allow the blockade to sever our connection to the people of Gaza,” the joint statement concluded.
As Gaza's civilians struggle to survive under siege, this Eid al-Adha delivery stands as a symbol of resilience, unity, and hope—a reminder that solidarity can still break through barriers where diplomacy and justice have yet to prevail. (ILKHA)
