Islamic Emirate prioritizes Trans-Afghan railway for regional prosperity

Prime Minister of the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan, Mullah Mohammad Hassan Akhund, received Mohammad Ishaq Dar, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Pakistan, and his accompanying delegation in Kabul on Thursday afternoon.
The high-level meeting underscored the shared commitment to advancing regional cooperation, with a particular focus on the recently signed trilateral agreement between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Uzbekistan.
During the discussions, Prime Minister Akhund emphasized the strategic significance of the Trans-Afghan railway and connectivity project, describing it as a “vital corridor for regional integration.” He added, “We are trying our best to make the Trans-Afghan project a success,” highlighting the Islamic Emirate’s strong support for initiatives that strengthen economic self-sufficiency and regional trade.
The Trans-Afghan project, a landmark initiative connecting Central and South Asia through Afghanistan, is expected to enhance transport links, open new trade routes, and provide economic opportunities for all three nations. The Islamic Emirate views such projects as essential components of Afghanistan’s peaceful reconstruction and long-term economic independence.
Mohammad Ishaq Dar conveyed cordial greetings from Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif and extended a formal invitation to Prime Minister Akhund to visit Pakistan. He praised the new spirit of regional cooperation since the Islamic Emirate’s return to power, stating, “This trilateral agreement marks a new chapter in connectivity and commerce, and Pakistan is ready to work closely with the Islamic Emirate to realize its potential.”
Prime Minister Akhund expressed appreciation for the invitation and affirmed his openness to visit Pakistan at a mutually convenient time. The meeting concluded in a spirit of mutual understanding and a shared desire to strengthen political, economic, and cultural ties between the two brotherly nations.
Officials from both sides noted the importance of such engagements in laying the foundation for long-term stability and prosperity in the region, rooted in Islamic unity and regional cooperation. (ILKHA)
