Islamic Emirate vows to strengthen anti-drug efforts

Sohail Shaheen, the head of the Islamic Emirate’s political office in Doha, has affirmed the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to bolstering its efforts in combating drug production and trafficking in Afghanistan.
In a recent meeting with the Italian ambassador to Afghanistan, Shaheen discussed the Islamic Emirate’s achievements in its anti-drug campaign.
Shaheen, who took to X (formerly known as Twitter) to share the developments, stated that the discussions centered on the progress made by the Islamic Emirate in various sectors of the anti-drug fight, with a particular focus on the treatment of drug addicts. He underscored the Islamic Emirate’s dedication to intensifying its efforts in this regard.
Furthermore, Shaheen conveyed to the Italian ambassador that alongside its own efforts, the Islamic Emirate seeks international support to enhance the anti-drug process by providing alternative agricultural projects. The move reflects the Islamic Emirate's determination to address the root causes of drug production and trafficking in Afghanistan.
The commitment to combat the drug trade is seen as a crucial step in the Islamic Emirate's efforts to gain international recognition and support for its governance in Afghanistan. The country has long been a major producer of narcotics, and tackling this issue is expected to be a significant challenge for the new regime.
The Italian ambassador's engagement with Shaheen highlights the growing interest of the international community in contributing to stability and development in Afghanistan, while also addressing the complex issue of drug production and trafficking.
As the Islamic Emirate continues to consolidate its authority in Afghanistan, its approach to combating drug-related issues will be closely watched by the international community, with hopes for progress in reducing drug production and trafficking in the region. (ILKHA)
