Israeli forces escalate movement restrictions around Ramallah

Israeli occupation forces have intensified movement restrictions in and around the city of Ramallah in the central West Bank, significantly impacting daily life for Palestinian residents, according to local sources.
Witnesses reported the closure of key routes, including the Birzeit-Attara gate, which serves as the northern entrance to the city of Al-Bireh, and the Nabi Saleh gate to the northwest of Ramallah. These closures have disrupted access to vital areas and worsened mobility for residents.
In addition to the closures, stricter measures have been enforced at the Ein Sinya checkpoint, north of the city. Residents have reported undergoing rigorous and time-consuming searches, causing severe traffic congestion for those attempting to leave Ramallah.
Further restrictions have been imposed at the entrance of Aboud village, northwest of Ramallah, where Israeli forces established a military checkpoint. This has severely hindered the movement of local residents, adding to the mounting frustration.
At the Attara checkpoint, stringent identity checks have led to significant delays, further exacerbating the disruptions to daily life for Palestinians in the area.
These escalated measures have sparked widespread frustration among local residents, who face severe delays, difficulties in reaching workplaces, and disruptions to essential services. The restrictions have also deepened concerns over the humanitarian and economic consequences for Palestinians living in the central West Bank.
The increased military presence and movement restrictions are part of a broader pattern of measures that have drawn criticism for their impact on Palestinian mobility and rights in the occupied territories. (ILKHA)
