Israeli forces launch new ground raid in Syria’s Quneitra countryside

Israeli occupation forces have carried out a new ground incursion into the southern countryside of Syria’s Quneitra province, storming several villages and surrounding residential areas, according to reports by Syrian state media.
The Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) said Israeli military units advanced from the al-Adnaniyye area and entered the villages of al-Ajraf, al-Mushayrifa, and Umm Batna, where they conducted extensive search and blockade operations.
Witnesses reported that a convoy of four military vehicles and two tanks moved toward al-Mushayrifa, raiding several homes, while another unit consisting of seven vehicles and two tanks surrounded a house in Umm Batna. The purpose of the raid has not been officially disclosed.
The incident comes amid a pattern of increasing violations by Israeli forces in the Quneitra region in recent weeks. Just last Saturday, 21 armored vehicles were reported to have entered northern Quneitra villages and the Samdaniyye al-Sharqiyye area.
In a related development last week, Israeli forces demolished prefabricated structures and uprooted trees in an abandoned military post in central Quneitra, according to local sources.
Since December 2024, Israel has intensified its attacks on Syrian territory, including both airstrikes and ground incursions targeting Syrian army positions and nearby civilian areas. The assaults have caused civilian casualties and significant damage to infrastructure and military assets.
Analysts say the repeated incursions reflect Israel’s ongoing policy to deepen instability in southern Syria and undermine resistance lines along the occupied Golan frontier.(ILKHA)
