Israeli forces have breached the ceasefire agreement established on November 27, 2024, by setting fire to homes in southern Lebanon.

Reports from Lebanon’s National News Agency (NNA) indicate that Israeli soldiers set fire to several houses in Aitaroun, located in the Bint Jbeil district. Additionally, drones were observed flying over Dahieh, the suburbs of Beirut, and Tyre, marking the second violation of the ceasefire on the first day of 2025.

Under the terms of the ceasefire, Israel is required to withdraw its forces south of the Blue Line—a de facto border—while the Lebanese army is to deploy in southern Lebanon within 60 days. However, Israeli actions, including the recent setting of fires and drone incursions, have been reported as violations of the agreement.

The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), which includes 380 Irish soldiers, has accused Israel of continuing destruction in residential and agricultural areas, urging Israel to withdraw its forces and comply with UN Resolution 1701. (ILKHA)
