Israeli opposition leader admits: "Israel Is killing children in Gaza as a hobby"

Yair Golan, leader of Israel’s opposition Democrats party, issued a blistering critique of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza, accusing the government of targeting civilians and engaging in what he called the “routine killing of Palestinian children.”
In an interview with Kan public broadcaster, the former general-turned-politician described the actions as morally indefensible and warned that Israel risks becoming an international pariah, drawing parallels to apartheid South Africa.
“Israel is killing children in Gaza as a hobby,” Golan stated, condemning the ongoing offensive that has claimed tens of thousands of Palestinian lives since October 2023. He cautioned that failure to act as a “sane country” could lead to complete isolation from the global community. “A sane country does not fight against civilians, does not kill children as a hobby, and does not aim to expel populations,” he added, highlighting the ethical and strategic failures of the campaign.
Golan also targeted Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s far-right coalition, labeling it “vengeful” and “unfit” to lead. “This government is full of vengeful types with no morals and no ability to run a country,” he said, warning that its policies endanger Israel’s existence.
The remarks reflect growing unease within Israel’s political sphere amid global condemnation of the Gaza offensive, which has drawn accusations of genocide from international organizations. The campaign has left Gaza under relentless bombardment, siege, and starvation, fueling calls for accountability worldwide.
Golan’s statements underscore deepening divisions in Israeli politics and amplify concerns over the moral and legal consequences of the government’s actions in Gaza. (ILKHA)
