Israeli strike on red crescent headquarters in Khan Younis kills one, injures three

A member of the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS) was killed and three others injured early Sunday after Israeli forces bombed the organization’s headquarters in Khan Younis, southern Gaza.
In a statement, the PRCS confirmed that the first floor of its building was directly struck, resulting in the death of one staff member, injuries to three others, and a fire breaking out in the targeted section of the facility.
The strike is the latest in a series of attacks affecting humanitarian and medical infrastructure in the enclave. The PRCS condemned the targeting of its facilities and staff, reiterating calls for the protection of medical workers under international law.
The Israeli assault on Gaza, ongoing since October 2023, has killed at least 60,430 Palestinians and injured more than 148,722 others, according to local health authorities. Thousands more remain trapped under rubble, inaccessible to emergency teams due to continuing bombardment and restrictions on rescue operations.
Despite repeated calls from the UN Security Council for an immediate ceasefire, as well as rulings from the International Court of Justice directing Israel to take measures to prevent genocide and ease the humanitarian crisis, the attacks have continued.
The situation in Gaza remains critical, with humanitarian agencies warning of further collapse of essential services amid ongoing strikes on civilian and aid infrastructure. (ILKHA)
