Kabul Mayor Mawlawi Abdul Rashid held a meeting with Fazıl Akın Erdoğan, the Head of Türkiye’s Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA), to explore collaborative urban development initiatives.
During the discussions, Mayor Abdul Rashid underscored the deep-rooted friendship between Afghans and Turks, emphasizing the importance of strengthening urban cooperation between Kabul and cities in Turkey, according to a statement issued by Kabul Municipality.
He highlighted the need for joint efforts in scientific and technical sectors to improve urban management in the Afghan capital.
Erdoğan reaffirmed TIKA’s support for Kabul Municipality’s urban development plans, pledging collaboration in several key areas. These include capacity building for municipal staff, improving sustainable urban order, reducing traffic congestion, designing new overhead bridges, and enhancing urban facilities.
The meeting represents a step toward fostering closer ties between Afghanistan and Turkey, with a focus on improving Kabul’s urban infrastructure and management. (ILKHA)
