Kuwait temporarily closes airspace to flights amid regional security concerns
Kuwait's Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) announced the temporary closure of the country's airspace to flight traffic, citing security concerns linked to ongoing regional developments.
In a statement posted on social media, the DGCA said Kuwait's airspace was closed as a precautionary measure starting at 04:50 local time.
The authority stated that scheduled flights were being redirected to alternative airports in accordance with established agreements and operational procedures.
Officials said the decision was taken to ensure the safety of civil aviation and air traffic operations amid heightened tensions in the region.
The DGCA added that developments are being closely monitored in coordination with relevant national authorities and aviation partners, and that further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
The temporary closure comes as several countries across the region review aviation security measures in response to escalating geopolitical tensions and concerns over potential threats to civilian air traffic. (ILKHA)
