Moldova sets september 28 as date for parliamentary elections

Moldova’s Parliament announced on Thursday that the country’s next parliamentary elections will take place on September 28, 2025, following a vote spearheaded by the ruling Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS).
The decision, approved by 57 of the 101 lawmakers, with 32 abstaining, aims to uphold legal and democratic standards for the electoral process.
During the parliamentary session, PAS lawmaker Veronica Roșca confirmed that the decision will take effect once published in the Official Gazette, according to local media. Parliament issued a statement underscoring its commitment to conducting the elections within a “democratic, transparent, and efficient framework.”
The upcoming vote represents a pivotal moment for the PAS government, in power since 2021, as it navigates domestic economic challenges and regional tensions. The election is expected to test the party’s resilience amid growing political pressures. (ILKHA)
