The Israeli Defense Ministry announced on Tuesday that more than 15,000 soldiers have been injured during the country’s genocidal aggression military campaign in Gaza since October 7, 2023.
This figure is significantly higher than the 5,667 injuries reported by the Israeli occupation military.
According to the Defense Ministry’s statement, injured soldiers are now undergoing rehabilitation programs through its Rehabilitation Department. The ministry, however, did not clarify the substantial discrepancy between its reported numbers and those provided by the Israeli army.
The military also reported 841 soldiers killed in action since the outbreak of the Gaza war.
A ceasefire agreement came into effect on January 19, halting what has been described as a genocidal war on Gaza. The conflict has caused devastating humanitarian consequences, with more than 47,300 Palestinians—most of them women and children—killed and over 111,400 injured, according to local health authorities.
Additionally, more than 11,000 people remain missing under the rubble of widespread destruction, marking the war as one of the worst humanitarian crises in modern history. The ongoing devastation has severely impacted essential services, leaving many elderly people and children particularly vulnerable.
While the Israeli Defense Ministry focuses on soldier rehabilitation, the lack of clarity regarding casualty figures has raised questions about transparency. Meanwhile, international calls for accountability continue to grow amid the stark humanitarian toll of the conflict.
As the ceasefire holds, the international community remains engaged in addressing the extensive fallout from the war and the pursuit of justice for victims. (ILKHA)
