The Dewan Masjid Indonesia (DMI), or the Indonesian Council of Mosques, has announced plans to construct 100 mosques in the Gaza Strip.
The initiative aims to restore spiritual life in the region, which has been heavily impacted by Israeli aggression.
Jusuf Kalla, chairman of the DMI and former vice president of Indonesia, stated that the council will initially focus on building ten permanent mosques in the beleaguered enclave. Kalla emphasized the importance of this project, noting that Israeli attacks have destroyed around 1,000 mosques in Gaza.
In a statement released a few days ago, Kalla expressed hope that several of these mosques will be ready for prayer by the beginning of Ramadan, which is expected to start on March 1, 2025.
The DMI's ambitious plan underscores Indonesia's commitment to supporting the people of Gaza and restoring their places of worship. (ILKHA)
