Over 83 Palestinians killed in 24 hours as Gaza faces relentless assault

The humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza continues to escalate as Israeli occupation forces maintain their relentless assault on the besieged enclave.
According to Palestinian medical sources, at least 83 Palestinians were killed and 223 others injured over the past 24 hours alone, pushing the total death toll since October 2023 to 64,605. The number of injured now stands at 163,319, with women and children bearing the brunt of the violence.
Tragically, hospitals in Gaza also reported five additional deaths from starvation and acute malnutrition in the last day, bringing the total number of starvation-related fatalities to 387, including 138 children. These deaths highlight the devastating impact of Israel’s blockade, which continues to prevent the delivery of sufficient food, medicine, and humanitarian aid.
Emergency services remain severely hindered, with medics and civil defense crews unable to reach many victims trapped under rubble or along roads targeted during ongoing airstrikes. Health authorities have reported that Israeli forces continue to target ambulances and rescue teams, further compounding the humanitarian crisis.
International calls for action have so far failed to stop the bloodshed. The United Nations Security Council has repeatedly demanded an immediate ceasefire, while the International Court of Justice has urged measures to prevent genocide and alleviate the dire situation. Despite these appeals, Israel’s genocidal onslaught continues unabated.
Humanitarian organizations warn that without urgent intervention, Gaza’s civilian population faces catastrophic loss of life. The ongoing attacks underline the urgent need for global solidarity to protect innocent lives and uphold basic human rights in one of the world’s most heavily besieged territories. (ILKHA)
