Over 900,000 Palestinians stand firm in Gaza City despite Israeli bombardment

More than 900,000 Palestinians continue to resist displacement in Gaza City, refusing to abandon their homes despite relentless Israeli airstrikes and ground assaults, the Government Media Office (GMO) reported Wednesday.
“Over 900,000 Palestinians remain steadfast in Gaza City, holding firmly to their right to stay and unequivocally rejecting all attempts to force them southwards, despite the brutality of bombardment and genocidal crimes committed by the Israeli occupation,” the GMO said in a statement.
The office criticized Israel for a campaign of misinformation, claiming the existence of tents, aid stations, and humanitarian services in southern Gaza, which the GMO confirmed do not exist on the ground. “These lies are intended solely to coerce civilians into abandoning their homes and neighborhoods,” the statement said.
Despite the resilience of Gaza City’s residents, the GMO acknowledged that approximately 335,000 Palestinians have been forced to leave their homes due to the intensity of the occupation’s attacks. However, reports indicate that over 24,000 displaced people have returned to their neighborhoods, citing the dire conditions in the south, where basic necessities and shelter are scarce.
The GMO emphasized that the steadfastness of Gaza City’s population highlights the Palestinian commitment to their homeland, even in the face of sustained aggression and attempts at forced displacement. (ILKHA)
