Pakistan strongly condemns Israeli interception of Global Sumud Flotilla

Pakistan has strongly condemned Israel’s interception of the Global Sumud Flotilla, a convoy of more than 40 civilian vessels carrying approximately 500 international activists delivering urgent humanitarian aid to the besieged people of Gaza.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Pakistan described Israel’s actions as an “unlawful detention” of international activists and a flagrant violation of international law and humanitarian law, endangering the lives of innocent civilians.
“This reprehensible act is part of Israel’s ongoing pattern of aggression and its illegal blockade of Gaza, which has caused immense human suffering and deprivation for over two million Palestinians,” the statement read.
The Pakistani government emphasized that the deliberate obstruction of humanitarian aid constitutes a grave breach of Israel’s obligations under the Fourth Geneva Convention, underlining the occupying power’s responsibility to ensure the welfare of the civilian population in Gaza.
Pakistan reiterated its demands for an immediate, unconditional, and permanent ceasefire across all Occupied Palestinian Territories, along with the lifting of the illegal blockade of Gaza. The statement also called for unhindered humanitarian access, the safe release of all flotilla activists and aid workers, and full respect for international law, including human rights law.
Pakistan reaffirmed its unwavering support and solidarity with the Palestinian people in their just struggle for self-determination. The statement highlighted the right of Palestinians to establish a viable, independent, and sovereign state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
The Global Sumud Flotilla, which aims to break Israel’s 16-year blockade of Gaza, has drawn widespread international attention, and Pakistan’s condemnation aligns with growing global calls to hold Israel accountable for repeated violations of international law.
“Pakistan stands firmly with the Palestinian people in their pursuit of justice, dignity, and freedom,” the statement concluded. (ILKHA)
