Palestinian children among dozens killed in Israeli strikes

The Israeli occupation has once again intensified its genocidal assault on the Gaza Strip, killing at least 13 Palestinians since dawn on Sunday, including two children and eight displaced civilians sheltering inside a school, according to Gaza’s hospitals.
The strikes come amid an unrelenting campaign that has already claimed more than 64,000 Palestinian lives since October 2023.
Israeli warplanes bombed Al-Farabi School, which had been serving as a shelter for displaced families near Al-Yarmouk Stadium in Gaza City. The attack killed eight civilians and wounded many others. In a separate airstrike, Israeli forces deliberately targeted a tent for displaced persons near the Legislative Council in Al-Rimal neighborhood, murdering two children and injuring others.
The occupation also detonated a booby-trapped robot near Sheikh Radwan pool, while military vehicles unleashed artillery fire and gunshots. In the east of Gaza City, an Israeli quadcopter drone opened fire on civilians, while additional airstrikes pummeled the Al-Shujaiya neighborhood.
The bloodshed follows Saturday’s atrocities, when at least 62 Palestinians were killed, including 15 struck down while seeking humanitarian aid. Israeli bombardment hit densely populated neighborhoods such as Sheikh Radwan, Zaytoun, and Khan Younis. Civil Defense teams reported that the destruction of residential towers, including Al-Sousi Tower in Gaza’s industrial zone, has worsened the displacement crisis and deepened the humanitarian catastrophe.
Gaza’s Ministry of Health reports that since the onset of Israel’s genocidal war on October 7, 2023, the death toll has surged to 64,368 martyrs, with 162,367 others wounded. The devastating toll includes 2,385 Palestinians killed while attempting to receive humanitarian aid and 17,577 injured in such incidents. Additionally, Israel’s crippling blockade has led to the deaths of 382 people, including 135 children, from starvation and malnutrition, underscoring the catastrophic humanitarian crisis engulfing the Gaza Strip.
Human rights groups say Israel’s campaign is unparalleled in its brutality against children. Save the Children confirmed that over 20,000 children have been killed, averaging one Palestinian child murdered every hour since the war began. Schools, hospitals, and shelters — once sanctuaries for safety — have instead been systematically turned into death traps by Israeli airstrikes.
“This is one of the most appalling milestones in modern history,” the organization said, condemning the international community’s failure to stop the bloodshed.
Despite overwhelming evidence of war crimes, major Western powers continue to shield Israel diplomatically and militarily, ensuring the continuation of its campaign. Social media platforms are filled with outrage, with millions denouncing the deliberate targeting of civilians, the destruction of Gaza’s infrastructure, and the ongoing blockade that chokes the enclave’s survival.
Palestinian resistance movements and global solidarity networks have renewed calls for sanctions, arms embargoes, and accountability, urging immediate action to halt the genocide.
The United Nations and human rights organizations have repeatedly warned of Israel’s violations of international humanitarian law, citing its disproportionate use of force and systematic targeting of civilian infrastructure. Yet, the absence of consequences has emboldened Israel to escalate its massacres.
For nearly two years, Gaza’s 2.3 million residents have endured ceaseless bombardment, mass displacement, and starvation. Their pleas are clear: the genocide must end, and justice must prevail.
Every bomb dropped, every child killed, and every family displaced underscores the urgent need for the world to act. Sanctions must be imposed, arms shipments must be stopped, and Israeli leaders must face trial for their crimes.
The blood of Gaza’s martyrs — particularly its children — cries out for justice. Silence is complicity. The time for action is now. (ILKHA)
