Tehran rises in unity: Millions mourn martyrs of Israeli-U.S. aggression

Millions of Iranians flooded the streets of Tehran on Saturday to honor 60 heroic martyrs who fell in the face of brutal aggression by the Israeli regime and its American backers.
The historic funeral procession, beginning at Enghelab (Revolution) Square and stretching to Azadi (Freedom) Square, served as a defiant message to the enemies of the Islamic Republic: Iran remains unshaken and united.
The ceremony drew the presence of high-ranking state officials and prominent revolutionary figures, including President Masoud Pezeshkian, Parliament Speaker Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, and veteran diplomat Mohammad Javad Zarif. The attendance of delegations from Bahrain, Iraq, and several Arab nations underscored the growing solidarity across the region against Zionist crimes.
Despite earlier false claims by the Israeli regime that he had been assassinated, senior advisor to the Leader of the Islamic Revolution, Ali Shamkhani, stood tall among the mourners, a living testament to the failure of Israel’s cowardly plots.
Brigadier General Hassan Hassanzadeh, commander of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) in Tehran, described the funeral as a vital component of “Operation True Promise 3,” symbolizing Iran’s unwavering commitment to resistance and justice. “Their martyrdom is not just a loss, but a beacon of sacrifice that inspires a nation,” he declared.
Among the martyrs were key defenders of the homeland: Chief of Staff Major General Mohammad Bagheri, martyred alongside his wife and journalist daughter, as well as renowned nuclear scientist Mohammad Mehdi Tehranchi and IRGC Commander Hossein Salami, who was martyred on the war’s first day. In total, 30 top military commanders and four children were honored, with tiny flower-covered coffins stirring the grief and anger of an entire nation.
“The revolution belongs to the people,” said Shura Council member Hamid Rasaei. “No threat can break our resolve. We are stronger than ever.” His remarks echoed the voice of a united people who filled the capital with chants of “Death to America” and “Death to Israel,” vowing never to forget nor forgive the heinous crimes committed.
Iran’s Health Ministry reported the death toll at 627 with nearly 5,000 wounded, as the Zionist entity and its American ally waged a series of unprovoked attacks targeting civilians, scientific facilities, and military institutions. Despite these atrocities, the Islamic Republic responded with calculated precision, forcing both regimes to hastily retreat and beg for a ceasefire.
Former U.S. President Donald Trump attempted to stoke further tensions with a reckless post on social media, falsely boasting of having spared the life of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei. Foreign Minister Araghchi swiftly responded, denouncing Trump’s remarks as arrogant and baseless, affirming that “the powerful Iranian people do not take kindly to threats and insults.”
As the coffins of the martyrs passed through Tehran, draped in the proud colors of the Islamic Republic, millions reached out in sorrow and pride. It was not just a funeral—it was a national statement: Iran stands tall, its martyrs immortal, and its enemies powerless before its unity and faith. (ILKHA)
