Tehran vows strong response to US attacks on nuclear facilities

Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi fiercely condemned recent US airstrikes on the country’s nuclear facilities, calling them “criminal” and a “flagrant violation of international law.”
In a statement posted on X, Araghchi warned of “everlasting consequences” for the US, pledging that Iran will defend its sovereignty with full force.
The airstrikes, described by Araghchi as “cowardly” and aimed at destabilizing the region, targeted Iran’s peaceful nuclear infrastructure, escalating tensions in an already volatile Middle East. “These lawless acts are an assault on global peace and sovereignty,” he said, emphasizing Iran’s right to self-defense under Article 51 of the UN Charter. He added that the attacks should alarm nations valuing justice and independence.
In a separate statement, Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs accused the US of acting to protect Israel, which it labeled a “genocidal regime” responsible for ongoing violence in Gaza and regional instability. “The United States has abandoned international norms to serve the interests of an occupying regime,” the Ministry stated, criticizing Washington’s role as a UN Security Council member and accusing it of enabling “Zionist crimes” with impunity.
Araghchi reaffirmed Iran’s commitment to a “sacred defense,” asserting that the nation has the capability and resolve to respond decisively. “The era of unchecked crimes is over,” he declared, signaling a strategic shift toward holding aggressors accountable and countering Western and Israeli influence.
Iran also called on the international community, particularly non-aligned nations, to oppose US aggression and Israel’s actions. “This is a test for the world,” the Foreign Ministry said. “Will you stand with justice and sovereignty, or remain silent in the face of tyranny?”
As Tehran prepares its response, Iranian officials underscored their commitment to resisting occupation, rejecting Western hegemony, and defending national dignity. The airstrikes mark a significant escalation, raising concerns about further conflict in the region. (ILKHA)
