Ukraine’s Zelensky accuses Russia of ignoring peace proposals

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky declared that a ceasefire in the war with Russia could begin immediately if Moscow shows genuine intent to end the conflict.
Speaking at a press conference alongside Czech President Petr Pavel in Prague, Zelensky accused the Kremlin of dismissing diplomatic initiatives, including a U.S.-backed proposal for a complete ceasefire.
"For 54 days, Russia has ignored even the American proposal to fully cease fire," Zelensky said. "Without increased pressure, Russia will not take practical steps to end this war." He stressed Ukraine’s readiness to back a temporary halt in fighting to pave the way for diplomacy, suggesting a minimum 30-day ceasefire to allow negotiations to take root.
The statement follows a significant Ukrainian military achievement over the weekend. Ukraine’s military intelligence reported the destruction of a Russian Su-30 fighter jet near the Black Sea port of Novorossiisk, using a naval drone in what officials called a global first for such a strike. The operation underscores Ukraine’s growing use of innovative tactics to challenge Russia’s air dominance.
Now in its third year, the conflict has seen repeated escalations despite international efforts to broker peace. Western nations, including the U.S., continue to push for a negotiated resolution while sustaining sanctions on Russia and supplying military aid to Ukraine. (ILKHA)
