UN commission finds evidence of Israeli war crimes and genocide in Gaza
The United Nations Independent International Commission of Inquiry has revealed overwhelming evidence of atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, documenting over 16,000 pieces of evidence — including photographs, witness testimonies, and investigative reports — pointing to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide against the Palestinian people.has revealed overwhelming evidence of atrocities committed by Israeli forces in Gaza, documenting over 16,000 pieces of evidence — including photographs, witness testimonies, and investigative reports — pointing to war crimes, crimes against humanity, and acts of genocide against the Palestinian people.
Commission member Chris Sidoti stated that the investigation has identified individuals responsible for the atrocities, confirming that Israeli forces have systematically targeted civilians since the escalation of violence on October 7, 2023.
“Evidence shows that since October 7, Israeli forces have committed widespread war crimes against Palestinians, and the perpetrators have been identified,” Sidoti said.
The Commission’s findings include the mass destruction of civilian infrastructure, deliberate targeting of homes, hospitals, and schools, and the forced displacement of hundreds of thousands of Palestinians. The killing of women, children, and the elderly — actions classified as genocide under international law — underscores what human rights groups have long described as Israel’s policy of collective punishment and ethnic cleansing.
Images and reports collected by the UN team document the unimaginable scale of suffering in Gaza, where entire families have been wiped out and entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble. Investigators have called on the international community to hold Israel accountable and end what they describe as a campaign of extermination and dehumanization of the Palestinian people.
Despite mounting evidence, global powers have been slow to act, prompting renewed calls from human rights organizations and pro-Palestinian advocates for sanctions, arms embargoes, and international trials against those responsible for the devastation.
As Gaza continues to endure siege and bombardment, the UN report serves as a stark reminder of the urgent need for justice, accountability, and an end to decades of impunity that have allowed the suffering of Palestinians to persist. (ILKHA)
