The humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip has reached a critical point, with 2,500 children in urgent need of medical evacuation, according to UNICEF spokesperson Kazem Abu Khalaf.
In a press statement on Thursday, Abu Khalaf described the situation in northern Gaza as "extremely difficult and tragic," warning that conditions are deteriorating rapidly.
Abu Khalaf highlighted alarming health concerns, noting that 30% of children in Gaza are suffering from severe malnutrition, a direct result of the ongoing blockade and violence that has disrupted food supplies and healthcare access.
Adding to the crisis, 95% of schools that were serving as shelters for displaced families have been completely destroyed, leaving countless children and families without basic resources or refuge.
UNICEF has called for urgent international intervention to facilitate medical evacuations and provide life-saving aid to children and families trapped in the conflict zone. The organization has reiterated the necessity of ensuring safe humanitarian corridors and access to essential supplies, including food, medicine, and shelter.
As the humanitarian toll continues to rise, the plight of Gaza's children underscores the urgent need for global action to address the escalating crisis. (ILKHA)
