UNRWA warns of Israeli plan for mass internment camps in southern Gaza

The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) has issued a stark warning regarding Israel's alleged plan to establish a so-called "humanitarian city" in southern Gaza.
Adnan Abu Hasna, UNRWA's media advisor in Gaza, stated that Israel has been laying the groundwork for this initiative through aid distribution points in the region. In a press statement, he accused Israel of planning to forcibly displace Gaza’s population into collective detention camps in Rafah, describing it as a step toward expelling Palestinians from their land.
“This is a deliberate move to coerce the population into voluntary displacement,” Abu Hasna said, pointing to the collapse of Gaza’s healthcare system, lack of aid, and fuel shortages as tools being used to pressure residents.
Abu Hasna highlighted that the designated "humanitarian zone" in southern Gaza, spanning just 60 square kilometers, is incapable of supporting the region’s 2 million residents. He described the area as uninhabitable, devastated, and devoid of conditions necessary for sustaining life or providing a viable future.
UNRWA has called for urgent international intervention to halt what it describes as a dangerous and deliberate attempt to forcibly displace Palestinians under the guise of humanitarian aid. Abu Hasna emphasized the need for immediate action to prevent further escalation of the crisis. (ILKHA)
