US approves $825 million ERAM missile sale to Ukraine

The United States Department of State has approved an $825 million military sale to Ukraine for Extended Range Attack Munition (ERAM) missiles and related equipment, as Washington deepens its support for Kyiv amid the ongoing war with Russia.
According to the State Department, the approved package includes up to 3,350 ERAM missiles and 3,350 navigation modules to counter spoofing technology. The proposed sale also covers associated logistics and support services.
Andriy Yermak, Chief of Staff to Ukraine’s President, confirmed the deal on social media, describing it as a vital step to strengthen Ukraine’s defensive capabilities.
In an official press release, the State Department said the transaction “will support the foreign policy and national security objectives of the United States by improving the security of a partner country that is a force for political stability and economic progress in Europe.”
It added that the missile systems “will improve Ukraine’s capability to meet current and future threats by further equipping it to conduct self-defense and regional security missions.”
The State Department also confirmed that Denmark, the Netherlands, and Norway will provide the financial support for the purchase, a detail echoed by Yermak in his announcement.
The approval follows NATO’s agreement in July to expand collective weapons purchases for Ukraine through the Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative. This mechanism allows alliance members to jointly procure American-made arms for Kyiv in order to streamline support.
Since the beginning of August, several NATO allies — including Canada, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway, and Sweden — have pledged funding for new PURL packages, underscoring the alliance’s long-term commitment to Ukraine.
The deal comes as Ukraine continues to face heavy Russian bombardment, with frequent attacks targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities. Kyiv has consistently pressed Western partners for advanced air defense and long-range strike capabilities to counter Moscow’s offensives.
With the latest U.S. approval, Ukraine’s arsenal is set to expand further, reinforcing its ability to sustain operations and defend against Russian missile and drone attacks. (ILKHA)
