Yemeni forces strike Ben Gurion Airport with hypersonic missile in solidarity with Gaza

The Yemeni Armed Forces (YAF) announced a powerful military operation on Sunday, striking the Lydd Airport—better known internationally as Ben Gurion Airport—using their advanced Palestine-2 hypersonic missile.
Brigadier General Yehya Saree, spokesperson for the YAF, confirmed in a televised statement that the operation was a complete success, forcing millions of Israeli settlers into shelters and halting all air traffic at the occupation’s main international gateway. He stressed that the operation underscored Yemen’s determination to defend the oppressed in Palestine and to retaliate against Israeli crimes, including mass starvation and indiscriminate bombardment.
“This strike is part of our duty to stand by the Palestinian people against the genocidal war, the starvation tactics, and the aggression not only on Gaza but also against Yemen itself,” Saree declared, emphasizing that the campaign will not stop until the siege on Gaza is lifted and the aggression ends.
The attack comes amid an intensifying campaign by Yemen’s Armed Forces, who have steadily escalated their strikes on high-value Israeli targets since the occupation forces reneged on the Gaza ceasefire five months ago. According to Israeli military figures, Yemen has launched at least 70 rockets toward occupied Palestine during this period—an average of one every 48 hours.
On August 14, the YAF confirmed a similar high-profile operation on Ben Gurion Airport using the same advanced Palestine-2 missile, signaling a new phase in their strategic capabilities and their ability to hit critical infrastructure deep inside occupied territories. In addition to missile strikes, the YAF has conducted drone attacks on sensitive Israeli sites in Haifa, the al-Naqab desert, Umm al-Rashrash (Eilat), and Beer al-Sabe’ (Beersheba).
Sunday’s missile launch triggered emergency sirens in more than 200 locations across central occupied Palestine, from Netanya to Isdud, including Tel Aviv and al-Quds. The Israeli military confirmed that air traffic at Ben Gurion Airport was temporarily grounded, underscoring the disruptive effect of Yemen’s strikes on Israel’s security and economy.
Media reports highlighted scenes of panic among settlers as flights were diverted and grounded, with millions rushing to shelters under the sound of sirens. Analysts noted that the attack demonstrated Israel’s vulnerability despite its heavily funded defense systems.
For Yemen, these operations carry both a military and symbolic dimension. Yemeni leaders have repeatedly framed their campaign as an extension of the Palestinian struggle for freedom, vowing to continue applying pressure on Israel until the siege of Gaza is broken.
Saree reiterated that Israel’s two-year-long campaign of atrocities against Palestinians—marked by massacres, mass displacement, and the weaponization of hunger—has left the resistance forces with no choice but to respond with strength.
“Our strikes are a clear message: as long as Gaza is bleeding, as long as children are starved and massacred, the Zionist entity will never know safety,” Saree stated.
Yemen’s escalation aligns with the broader Axis of Resistance strategy, as movements across the region—from Lebanon to Iraq—have increased operations targeting Israel’s military and economic assets. Observers say Yemen’s successful use of hypersonic missiles represents a significant shift in the regional balance, showcasing both technological advancement and political will.
For Palestinians under siege, these strikes are seen as a powerful gesture of solidarity, proof that despite Israel’s attempts to isolate Gaza, resistance forces across the region remain committed to breaking the occupation’s grip. (ILKHA)
