Çukurova International Airport serves over 2 million passengers since opening
Çukurova International Airport, Turkey’s 58th aviation gateway, has served 2,008,448 passengers since its inauguration on August 10, 2023, according to Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure Abdulkadir Uraloğlu.
In a written statement, Minister Uraloğlu provided details about passenger and aircraft traffic, noting that 1,546,408 domestic passengers and 462,040 international passengers have used the airport during this period. Additionally, the airport has handled 13,698 aircraft movements, with 11,002 domestic and 2,696 international flights recorded.
Uraloğlu emphasized the airport's role in connecting the Çukurova region with the rest of Turkey and neighboring countries. "Our airport, which serves over 6 million citizens living in Mersin, Adana, Osmaniye, and Niğde, is one of Türkiye’s most important gates opening to the Middle Eastern countries," he stated.
Çukurova International Airport features a terminal spanning 110,000 square meters and boasts an annual passenger capacity of 9 million. Its main runway, measuring 3,500 meters in length and 60 meters in width, is equipped to accommodate the largest wide-bodied aircraft, ensuring its readiness for significant international operations.
The minister also underlined the economic and developmental impact of the airport, calling it a critical infrastructure investment. "It will make a great contribution to the development of the Çukurova Region and will be the locomotive of regional development," Uraloğlu said.
Since its opening, the airport has been pivotal in enhancing connectivity and fostering growth in the aviation sector, marking it as a strategic asset for Türkiye’s infrastructure and economic expansion. (ILKHA)
