House sales in Türkiye rise 15.8% in June
House sales across Türkiye increased by 15.8% year-on-year in June, reaching 129,979 units, while mortgaged sales surged by 72.1%, according to the latest figures released by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat).
The data showed that 43,406 of the homes sold were new properties, while 86,573 were second-hand homes. Sales of newly built homes rose by 23.1% compared with June last year, while second-hand home sales increased by 12.5%.
Mortgage-backed sales post strong growth
Mortgaged house sales climbed 72.1% year-on-year to 25,993 units in June. Sales through other methods also increased by 7.1% to 103,986. Mortgage-backed transactions accounted for 20% of all house sales, while the remaining 80% were completed through other types of sales.
First-half house sales decline
During the January-June period, total house sales fell by 3.1% from a year earlier to 699,516 units.
Sales of newly built homes edged up by 0.8% to 221,487 during the first six months of the year, while second-hand home sales declined by 4.8% to 478,029.
Foreign home purchases increase in June
House sales to foreign buyers rose by 20.1% year-on-year in June to 2,015 units, representing 1.6% of all house sales during the month.
Russian citizens purchased the highest number of homes, acquiring 381 properties. They were followed by buyers from Ukraine and Iran, with 170 purchases each.
In the January-June period, however, home sales to foreign buyers fell by 9.2% compared with the same period last year, totaling 9,083 units.
Commercial property sales also rise
Sales of commercial properties increased by 19.2% year-on-year in June to 16,565 units. Sales of newly built commercial properties climbed 30.8% to 5,126 units, while second-hand commercial property sales rose 14.6% to 11,439.
Mortgage-backed commercial property sales surged 86.7% to 745 units, while other commercial property transactions increased by 17.2% to 15,820.
In the first six months of the year, total commercial property sales declined by 5.3% year-on-year to 85,528 units. (ILKHA)
