Türkiye and Malaysia set $10 billion trade target at strategic council meeting
Türkiye and Malaysia have reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic ties, setting a target to raise bilateral trade volume to $10 billion, following high-level meetings held in Ankara.
Turkish Minister of Trade Prof. Dr. Ömer Bolat met with Malaysia’s Minister of Investment, Trade and Industry Johari Abdul Ghani during Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s official visit to Türkiye, which took place on the occasion of the First Meeting of the Türkiye–Malaysia High-Level Strategic Cooperation Council.
During the talks, the two sides discussed concrete steps to expand trade relations and ensure a more balanced and sustainable trade structure between the two countries.
Minister Bolat stressed that, in line with the vision set by the presidents of both countries, cooperation would continue to advance decisively across multiple sectors, including defence industry, investments, tourism, and halal quality infrastructure.
Officials underlined that the strategic partnership between Türkiye and Malaysia is expected to deepen further through mutual political will and strong cooperation, with economic relations forming a central pillar of the bilateral agenda.
The meetings are part of broader efforts by both countries to strengthen strategic cooperation and enhance their role in regional and global trade networks. (ILKHA)
