Türkiye’s economy expands 3.7% in third quarter of 2025
Türkiye’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 3.7% in the third quarter of 2025 compared with the same period of the previous year, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) announced on Monday.
According to chain-linked volume index data, the economy continued to show steady growth driven by strong activity in several key sectors.
The construction sector recorded the highest increase with 13.9% growth. Value added also rose by 10.8% in financial and insurance activities, 10.1% in information and communication, 9.6% in taxes less subsidies on products, 7.1% in other service activities, 6.5% in industry, and 6.3% in trade, transportation, accommodation and food services. Growth was 4.4% in professional, administrative and support services, 4.2% in real estate activities, and 2.1% in public administration, education, human health and social work.
Meanwhile, agriculture, forestry and fishing declined by 12.7%, marking the sharpest contraction among all sectors.
Seasonally and calendar-adjusted GDP increased by 1.1% from the previous quarter, while calendar-adjusted GDP grew 3.4% year-on-year.
GDP at current prices rose by 41.6%, reaching 17 trillion 424 billion 718 million Turkish liras in the third quarter. In U.S. dollar terms, GDP amounted to 432.88 billion dollars.
Household final consumption expenditure increased by 4.8%, government consumption rose by 0.8%, and gross fixed capital formation grew by 11.7% compared with the same quarter last year.
Exports of goods and services decreased by 0.7%, while imports increased by 4.3% in the same period.
Compensation of employees rose by 41.1%, and net operating surplus/mixed income increased by 43.5%. The share of employee compensation in gross value added remained at 35.0%, the same as last year, while the share of net operating surplus/mixed income rose to 46.7% from 46.0%. (ILKHA)
