Türkiye's industrial production flat year-on-year in May, declines 2.9% monthly
Türkiye’s industrial production showed no year-on-year growth in May 2026, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TurkStat) reported on Friday.
According to the institute’s data, the calendar-adjusted industrial production index remained unchanged compared with the same month of the previous year. At the sub-sector level, mining and quarrying output declined by 5.0%, while manufacturing posted a modest 0.3% increase.
The electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply sector rose by 1.0% on an annual basis. On a monthly basis, industrial production contracted sharply. The seasonally and calendar-adjusted index fell 2.9% in May compared with April.
Sub-sector monthly changes were mixed: mining and quarrying rose 1.5%, but manufacturing recorded a 3.3% decline, and electricity, gas, steam, and air conditioning supply decreased by 0.9%.
The figures come amid ongoing economic pressures in Turkey, where industrial output remains a key indicator of broader manufacturing activity and overall growth momentum.
Analysts will be closely watching upcoming releases for signs of recovery in the manufacturing sector, which accounts for the bulk of industrial production.
