Orphans Foundation delivers sacrificial meat to besieged Gaza despite blockade
The Orphans Foundation (Yetimler Vakfı) has successfully delivered thousands of portions of sacrificial meat to families in the Gaza Strip after processing Eid al-Adha donations into canned food.
The humanitarian initiative was carried out using sacrificial animals slaughtered on behalf of donors in Egypt through the wakala (proxy) system. The meat was then processed, canned, packaged, and prepared for shipment before being transported into Gaza following the completion of lengthy permit and logistical procedures.
The aid operation brought much-needed food assistance to Palestinian families living under harsh conditions amid continued restrictions, shortages, and the humanitarian crisis affecting the besieged territory.
Foundation officials emphasized that the sacrificial meat campaign extended far beyond the slaughter performed during Eid al-Adha, involving weeks of preparation to ensure that the donations reached those most in need.
The process included hygienic processing of the meat, industrial canning, packaging, transportation arrangements, and coordination with relevant authorities to facilitate entry into Gaza.
Despite numerous obstacles, the Foundation reported that the canned meat was successfully delivered and distributed to needy Palestinian families across the enclave.
The aid distribution comes at a time when many Gazan families continue to struggle with food insecurity and limited access to basic necessities as a result of the ongoing blockade and repeated military assaults on the territory.
In addition to the assistance provided inside Gaza, the Foundation extended support to Palestinian families who had been forced to leave the Strip and seek refuge in Egypt.
Teams from the Foundation distributed fresh sacrificial meat to displaced Palestinians living in Egypt, allowing families separated from their homeland to share in the blessings and joy of Eid al-Adha despite the hardships of displacement.
Volunteers on the ground said the initiative aimed not only to meet urgent humanitarian needs but also to provide a sense of solidarity and support for Palestinians enduring the consequences of war, displacement, and blockade.
The Orphans Foundation expressed satisfaction at being able to fulfill the trust of donors and deliver their sacrificial offerings to the people of Gaza despite the considerable challenges involved.
The organization also thanked supporters and philanthropists whose contributions made the campaign possible, stressing that humanitarian solidarity remains vital for alleviating the suffering of Palestinian families.
Foundation officials reaffirmed their commitment to continuing aid efforts for the Palestinian people in the months ahead, noting that assistance to Gaza and displaced Palestinians will remain a priority.
As humanitarian conditions in Gaza continue to deteriorate, charitable organizations and relief groups have repeatedly called for greater international support and unrestricted access for aid deliveries to help address the growing needs of the civilian population. (ILKHA)
